Christopher (CJ) earned his B.A. in Sociology and M.S. in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from California State University, Fresno. CJ strives to move alongside his client's therapeutic journey with a wellness mindset, and will tailor your treatment goals to fit your individualized needs.
CJ has prior counseling experience with individuals, couples, and families. He has an authentic style and an open mind which allow him to build an alliance with his clients no matter their ability, age, sexual identity/gender, culture, or belief system. CJ also is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and a registered Addictions and Other Drug Counselor; he can utilize integrated theoretical techniques from the mental health, substance abuse, and vocational fields. He is also a trained Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, Mindfulness-Informed Professional, and a DBT trained clinician (certification pending license).
Before working at OLFT, CJ has worked with newly injured patients and their families to process disability-related trauma and individuals with substance abuse illnesses. He strongly believes every individual can overcome one’s hardships by focusing on one’s strengths, coping skills, and communication themes to externalize one’s vulnerabilities/needs to fertilize self-growth.
CJ has a passion for art, and he is a disability and LGBTQ+ member/ally. CJ enjoys utilizing creativity in life and therapy, and he lives by the phrase, “Always Adapting”. He surrounds himself with positive attachments and cultural diversity, and he looks forward to seeing his client's ongoing internal growth throughout treatment.
