As an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, Katie enjoys working with adolescents and foster youth, and providing social-emotional education to her clients.
Using a Person-Centered Counseling approach, Katie focuses on maximizing her client’s ability to find their own solutions with the right amount of support. Client-centered therapy allows for the therapist to focus on the client’s needs. Katie works with clients to help them realize:
They are enough
Their failures do not define them
Asking for help is not a sign of weakness
All things take time
Katie worked in Fresno Unified for almost 15 years in different capacities within the special education department, finishing her career as a teacher for the emotionally-disturbed population. She also worked for almost 3 years in a Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program as a mental health supervisor. Katie completed her BA at Fresno Pacific University and received her Masters from University of Phoenix.
A favorite quote of Katie’s that relates to what she does comes from Maya Angelou, and it states, “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”
