As an associate professional clinical counselor, Loua’s approach to therapy comes from an integrative and holistic perspective that tailors each client’s treatment to their unique needs. She enjoys working and getting to know clients from all different populations and age groups.
In therapy, she values creating a nonjudgmental and safe place for clients to share, process, and reflect. She does this through the incorporation of CBT, mindfulness, and deep breathing exercises into sessions.
Loua has prior counseling experience in working with individuals, couples, groups, and children and adolescents on the autism spectrum. She speaks Hmong and possesses multicultural competence. She also has experience in the applied behavioral analysis (ABA) field as a registered behavior technician.
Her ultimate hope is that clients will walk out of therapy with awareness, confidence, gratitude, and to continue utilizing coping skills outside of the therapy room.
Loua’s motto in life is to treat everyone fairly, providing a sense of belongingness and inclusion in the world. She lives by the motivational phrase, “Live, laugh, love.” This quote reminds her that no matter how unexpected life can be and get at times, she is reminded to be present, have a good time, and love those around her as well as herself.
